The old days will never leave our heads. The beautiful flowers, the clear waters, the sweaty afternoons in the cornfields and the ultimate pleasure of the warm shower and the night flames by the fireplaces in our farm homes! That nostalgia will never go away. The beautiful decorations and wooden mantles were exceptional. And no one could never tell the firedogs and log boxes that made the heating worthwhile! As these days passed and we learned more science, we started getting new innovations, ‘to make work easy’ and create more leisure time. And indeed, we have gone back to more work and less leisure. We are moving in circles, but unfortunately, our fires are dying down.
From the beauty of collecting wet logs and placing them next to the dry ones in the fire pit then watching as they dried up and caught the fire! These were the simple pleasures of youth. Most of us are not old though, but technology grows faster than the average man! So yesterday seems like two thousand years ago! Can you remember the tool stand with the shovel, tong, poker and bellows? These were the most beautiful tools for the manual pleasure of setting up the fire. Then the age old stories would flow, and young men would become wise!
Today we boast ten minute self installed electric fires they work well, and produce great results in the shortest time with less pollution as well, but can they match the labor? There still are great UK homes with a rich history and a kept tradition, and they are hard to come by as they have turned into rare antiques! That feeling of nostalgia is a great and interesting way of relieving the gone days. So the question is Who Is guilty of killing the good old fireplace? Technology or people?
